It's really choppy and suuuuuper scribbly because I took like 30 seconds to draw each frame. Please fill in the gaps and gloss over the art with your wonderful imagination! I made it in Windows Movie Maker which is an absolutely evil program =o=

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Everyone's doing okay. Mao seems to be completely better, eating like a horse today and we got a new partner for the dowager. A little green guy, I hope they get along. The blue one's always been a little bit hostile and spazzy, I hope he doesn't bully the new parakeet. I got a sore throat and a haircut. How're you doing?

I'm doing well. Kiddo and I took a hike today, and discovered a beautiful area of the river.
I hope you're getting my emails too- and I hope the card makes it to you on your birthday. It might be a day late, I can't predict snail mail very well!

I hope they get along well, too. Budgies surprise me all the time.

I will! And I haven't been checking my email but I will. I drank so much tea today and watched the parakeets try to get along. They seem to be warming up a little- the size difference! The new guy's sooo much littler.
I'm getting my first tattoo tomorrow,this [link] on my wrist.

i read what you wrote to cheeky and i'm so sorry she didn't make it. you did the best you could for her and i'm sure there's no birdie who would have lived a happier existence than with you.
and you gave her a beautiful send off too. i'm so proud of you. she's got a little bit of you and your family to take her back Home.

and your cat's a toughie, yeah? i hope she pulls through. i'll be keeping you both in my thoughts. hang in there while she needs you, and i'll be there when you need me.

(i'll be online today as much as i can. we've got a big filming gig starting tonight so i'll be travelling, but i'm trying to put skype on my phone so i can call you when we're there. i love you. <3)

Oh sweetheart I love you so much
I was so scared at first but my cat seems to be eating a little again. We're still giving her medicine and force-feeding her, but she also ate a bit of her food and some hamburger my dad cooked and it feels a bit like a good sign.
I'm gonna see if I can send off your hat in time for your birthday.
